Preakness Set to Be Off To the Races

The Preakness starts in a mere hour at 6 P.M. Eastern time. Fans and betters alike are waiting with baited breath to see if Mine That Bird can make it two in a row. Women are even joining the act and are betting on Rachel Alexandra making her the favorite to win this year. Colts are usually bigger, stronger, and a little faster than fillies by the time they reach the age of 3. Rachel Alexandra is a filly and 3 years old, but that's not stopping the oddsmakers from putting her at 8-5 odds.

Rachel Alexandra has very impressive credentials. She has entered in and won five straight high stakes races. Experts and oddmakers agree that she is an unusually talented horse, regardless of gender. She won the Kentucky Oats, the female version of the Kentucky Derby, by about four seconds. Many horse racing insiders say that was the most amazing performance in the Kentucky Oats in 20 years. If she wins, Rachel Alexandra will be the first filly to win the Preakness in 85 years.
